Recovering Mowbray resigns as Birmingham City manager
Birmingham City manager Tony Mowbray has announced his resignation from the club, citing health reasons for his decision. Mowbray, who has been with the club for the past two seasons, recently suffered a health scare that prompted him to take a step back from his role.
In a statement released today, Mowbray said, “After careful consideration and discussions with my family and medical team, I have decided to step down as Birmingham City manager. My health is my top priority at this time, and I need to focus on my recovery.”
The club has expressed their support for Mowbray’s decision and wished him a speedy recovery. A search for a new manager will begin immediately, with assistant coach John Smith taking over in the interim.
